"...Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are" (John 17:11, NKJV).

In His prayer in John 17, Jesus Christ, who is familiar with all the characteristics of God, called His Heavenly Father not "Loving," "Merciful," "Powerful," or whatever, but "Holy." Even in verse 25, wherein the Greek word that described the Father as "righteous" or "good" could also be translated "holy."

What is the dominant character of our own physical father, or how could we describe him? Athletic? Understanding? Loving? Generous? Merciful?

But, could we call him, "holy"?

Only Jesus Christ could call His Father, "Holy"!

And only through Christ that we could have that kind of Father, "Holy."

"Yet I will
rejoice in the LORD,
I will take joy
in the God of my salvation"
(Habakkuk 3:18, ESV).
