Thoughts on the News

Oh, btw, Tom...

the post wasn't meant to offend but rather to draw corollaries between two similar events in the same city and to demonstrate how history repeats itself and to teach that we ought to contemplate the matter and search our own souls and determine to be slow to condemn [the matters in France] seeing our past traces the same steps.

But if you like you can read an account at New Advent, a Catholic website, in which you will find nearly identical language. And, no...I did not plagiarize their works though a lot of the wording is suspiciously similar.

So I hope that after reading the account there you will have it in your heart to release me from all suspicion of 'violent hatred' toward you. One day you will understand that the love of God is first about saving souls and that at times He presents us with truth that at first may seem like hatred rather than love. But at the same time God does not torture nor threaten with death those who oppose Him in their valley of indecision but rather allows them to come to fully appreciate with their god-given intellect His merciful and long-suffering character and render to Him, not a coerced, but a willing allegiance.

May we become brothers in Christ, united in that one faith.

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions. -Proverbs 18:2 NIV
