Greetings! My name is Cynthia Glenn, and I will be the moderator for the Book of Mark. Now, before moving on let me ask you a question. Do you believe in Miracles? Do you believe that Jesus still heals today? As we study this gospel, we will be following Mark’s account of Jesus’ healing ministry. The book of Mark is the gospel of Miracles. Mark records more miracles of Christ than any of the other Gospels. Jesus proves his divinity in Mark by the demonstration of miracles. Jesus shows that he means what he says and he is who he says.

As we do an in-depth study of the book, I will be posting weekly questions. I ask each participant to post your own questions and thoughts. I ask that this discussion group to be friendly and not intimidating. We will not accept arguments nor intimidating questions or answers. Before you start this study, be in prayer, and ask the Lord to prepare your heart for His Word. Ask him to open your eyes for understanding. Expect God to do a Miracle for you and your family.

POSTING: If you’ve never posted before, it’s very simple. If you see a post you would like to respond to, click “Add New Comment” and type out your response. When you’re ready, click “Preview,” and this will give you the chance to look things over. If everything looks right, click “Post or submit” and your comment should be posted.

Please try to keep your responses on-subject; it’s okay to stray from the main topic a little, but if things go too far afield from The Book of Mark, I will delete or edit posts to keep the conversation from derailing. The same is true for posts which have unacceptable content. If you have questions about what is acceptable and unacceptable, the Forum Guidelines spell things out very well. The rules for posting in the forums apply to this group study, and I will also address situations that are not directly covered in the official guidelines as I see fit.

Are you ready for a Miracle? Let's explore the Book of Mark, the book of Miracles.

Physical Healing Mark 1;29-31

Hello Everyone,

I am in deep study with Jesus' Healing ministry. As I was studying the first healing Jesus performed was a FEVER (pause). Think about that for a moment. What causes a Fever? We are not told what caused the fever, but think about today sickness. Think about the string of flu virus and stomach virus that many people have died from this year. With both of these virus a high fever is one of the symptoms.

As you ponder this, post your thoughts about "the causes of a fever". Jesus has power over every Physical healing.

Jesus Baptism

As we study this Chapter, think about your experience with the Holy Spirit. We need the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to do ministry in the Kingdom of God. Every persons called by God should want His POWER to minister in the Kingdom of God.

Mark 1:10-11

As Jesus came up out of the water, he saw the heavens splitting apart and the Holy Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, "You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy."

Christ calls and insists that a person accept His call, and Christ does not back down.

Note four facts:

John Baptizes Jesus

John Baptizes Jesus

Mark 1:9
It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Jesus came specifically to John to be baptized. He was to identify Himself with John’s ministry. He was the Messiah, the Lamb of God, being proclaimed by John.

So with our ministry – we are to proclaim Jesus the Lamb of God.

John Prepares the Way

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.( Hebrew 10:23)

Heavenly Father, we are standing on your promises and believe that you are able to bring Miracles into our life. Father, bless everyone participating in this Bible study. Provide, heal and meet every need. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Introduction to Book of Mark

Christ was the pivotal point of human history. When he came to earth, earth saw the Son of God Himself (1Jn 1:1-3). His impact upon the world can never be overstated. He changed the world so much that men measure their years by Him. Some may dispute His significance, but they are wrong. And their misjudgment will be confronted some day in the future. When? When Christ returns. Scripture declares that He is going to return to earth.
