CHAPTER XIX.

Of the order and discipline of singing.

We believe that the Divine Presence is everywhere, and that the eyes of the Lord behold both the good and the bad, in all places; but we believe this especially and without any doubt, when we assist at the Word of God. Let us, therefore, always be mindful of what the Prophet saith: “Serve ye the Lord in fear.”162162Ps. ii. 11. And again: “Sing ye His praises with understanding.”163163Ps. xliv. 8. And: “In the sight of Angels I will sing praise unto Thee.”164164Ps. cxxxviii. 1. Therefore, let us consider in what manner it behoveth us to be in the sight of God and of the Angels, and so let us sing in choir, that mind and voice may accord together.
